What is the Parent Resource Center?

The PWCS' Office of Special Education Parent Resource Center (PRC)'s mission is to assist parents and families of children with special needs to become active participants in their child's education through information, empowerment, and encouragement. In operation since November of 1992, the center has provided support, training, resources, and information to parents and teachers.

It's goal is to promote a positive relationship between parents and educators of children with special needs.

The Center is staffed by both a Parent Coordinator (parent of a child with special needs) and an Educator Coordinator.

The staff works with parents to resolve concerns and problems; however; coordinators may not serve as advocates for parents  in School Intervention, IEP, or Eligibility meetings or attend a Central Office Review, State Mediation, or Due Process Hearing.
